The basics

Patches, Backups
& Tone Capture

Before you export anything, it helps to know how MOOER organizes your tones. These few ideas cover every MOOER device, from the classic GE250 to the intelligent GS1000.

Patch

a.k.a. a preset / a tone

A patch is one complete saved tone: amp, cab, effect blocks and all their settings. On MOOER, a preset is called a patch, and it exports as a single preset file to your computer.

Backup File

your whole device

A backup file is a full snapshot of every patch on your unit, saved in one file. The Backup function creates it, and Recall restores it back to your device.

Tone Capture & IRs

MNRS samples and cabs

Tone Capture and MNRS files are MOOER sampled amps and pedals, and IRs are the cab files. They live in sampling slots and can be shared on MOOER Cloud.

Good to know
MOOER Studio

The free desktop editor for the classic GE series that imports and exports patches over USB.

MOOER Cloud

The app for the new intelligent series that manages and shares presets over Bluetooth and the cloud.

Model Specific

Patches are tied to their model. A GE300 patch will not load on a GE250 or a GE200.

What You Need To Export

Exporting presets from a MOOER takes just a few things. Get these ready first and the how to below becomes a two minute job.

1

Your MOOER device

A classic GE300, GE250, GE200, GE150 or PREAMP LIVE, or an intelligent GS1000, GE1000 or GE200 Pro. Every model can export presets.

2

The right software

MOOER Studio, the desktop editor for your exact classic model, or the MOOER Cloud app for the new intelligent series. Get both only from the official MOOER site.

3

A connection

A USB cable to your computer for MOOER Studio, or a Bluetooth connection to your phone for the MOOER Cloud app.

4

Latest firmware

Match the editor to your firmware, and always back up your presets first, because a firmware update can clear all your user patches.

Download from the official MOOER site only

Always get MOOER Studio, the MOOER Cloud app, firmware and manuals straight from MOOER, under Support then Downloads, never a third party mirror. Back up before every update, since updates can wipe your presets.

How To Export MOOER Presets

On the classic GE series, the reliable route is MOOER Studio over USB. It shows your patches and exports them as preset files. Here is what it looks like in the app.

Export saves the selected patch to your computer. Backup saves your whole device in one file.
1

Install MOOER Studio

Download MOOER Studio for your exact model from the official MOOER site, under Support then Downloads, then install it.

2

Connect and open the editor

Connect your device with the USB cable, let it boot, then open MOOER Studio. Your patches appear in the preset list.

3

Select a patch

Click the patch you want in the preset list. The editor shows its effect chain and settings so you know exactly what you are saving.

4

Export to your computer

Use Export to save the preset file to a backup folder. On the GE250, patches save in the .om format. That file is your exported preset.

5

On the intelligent series, use MOOER Cloud

For a GS1000, GE1000 or GE200 Pro, open the MOOER Cloud app over Bluetooth to manage presets and upload them to your account.

How To Import MOOER Presets

Bought a patch pack, or restoring a backup? Importing is the same idea in reverse: bring the file into the editor, drop it into an empty slot, then save it to your device.

1

Connect and open MOOER Studio

Connect your device over USB and open the editor, the same way as when you export. For the intelligent series, open MOOER Cloud instead.

2

Import the preset file

Use Import to bring the preset file into the editor from your computer. It lands in the software library, ready to place.

3

Drop it into an empty slot

Drag the imported patch into an empty slot in the My Presets area, then click Save to write it onto your MOOER device.

4

Bring in Tone Capture and IRs

If the patch uses a custom sample or cab, import the matching Tone Capture or IR file too, so the patch points at the right slot.

Patches are model specific. A preset made on one MOOER will not load on another, so a GE300 patch cannot run on a GE250 or a GE200. Keep each device's files in separate folders. And always back up before a firmware update, because updates can clear your user patches.

Save everything

Back Up Your Patches

MOOER gives you three ways to keep your tones safe. Pick whichever fits your setup, and always back up before a firmware update.

Full device Backup

Use the Backup function in MOOER Studio to save every patch in one file. On the GE250 this is a .mbf file. Restore it later with Recall.

Single presets

Export individual patches to your computer as preset files. Perfect for keeping, sharing or selling the exact tones you care about most.

To MOOER Cloud

On the intelligent series, upload presets and samples to MOOER Cloud for cloud backup and sharing with the whole community.

MOOER Export Tips

Back up before every update

A firmware update can wipe your user patches. Run a full Backup and export your presets before you update.

Keep models in separate folders

Patches are model specific. Save each device's files in its own folder so you never mix a GE300 patch with a GE250.

Match the editor to your firmware

If MOOER Studio warns of a version mismatch, update the firmware first so the editor and device agree.

Keep samples with the patch

A patch relies on its Tone Capture and IR files. When you share or move it, include the samples it uses.
