This amp combines an 85-watt Silverface twin Reverb with custom circuit tweaks inspired by Alexander Howard Dumble. These mods re-voice the normal or vibrato channels to add cascading gain stages, altered tone stacks, and mid-boost controls, aiming for Dumble-style overdrive and touch sensitivity. The modifications replace standard coupling caps and resistors with tighter-tolerance parts, tweak the mid-range potentiometer values, and repurpose a channel to feature a buffer input/overdrive structure
While stock 1970 Twins are notoriously loud and clean, Dumble-style alterations frequently attempt to make the preamp break up earlier and respond dynamically to pick attack. While this is not a genuine mod done by Howard Dumble, it has been replicated to sound like one.
