A rig is one complete saved tone: amp, cab, effects and all its settings. On HeadRush, a preset is called a rig, and it is the single sound you export and share.

Exporting presets from a HeadRush takes just a few things. Get these ready first and the how to below becomes a two minute job.
Prime, Core, Flex Prime, Pedalboard, Gigboard or MX5. Every model can export rigs, the exact route just depends on the unit.
A USB cable to your computer, or a USB storage drive in the USB A port on Prime and Core, or wifi for the HeadRush Cloud.
Keep your board up to date, and always back up your rigs, setlists, blocks and IRs before you run a firmware update.
Handy for computer free backups on Prime and Core, and for moving rigs from an older HeadRush onto a new one.
Always get firmware, drivers and user guides straight from HeadRush, never a third party mirror. Back up before every update, and let the SYNC process finish before you disconnect the board.
The most reliable route works on every HeadRush: USB Transfer Mode. It mounts your board as a drive so you can copy your rigs out. Here is what it looks like on the touchscreen.
Plug your HeadRush into your computer with a USB cable, then power the board on.
Tap the ••• in the top right corner, choose Global Settings, tap ••• again, then tap USB Transfer. Your board appears on the computer as a mass storage drive named HeadRush.
Inside the HeadRush drive you will find folders for Rigs, Setlists, Blocks and Impulse Responses.
Drag the files from the Rigs and Setlists folders into a backup folder on your computer. Those copied files are your exported presets, ready to store, share or sell.
Plug a USB drive into the USB A port, open the Menu, tap Browse, select the rigs you want and hit Export to send them straight to the drive.
Bought a rig pack, or moving tones to another board? Importing is the same idea in reverse: drop the files into the right folder, then let the board sync.
Open USB Transfer the same way as above so the HeadRush drive shows up on your computer.
Drag rigs into Rigs, cab WAV files into Impulse Responses, and model presets into Blocks. Matching the folder matters.
Tap SYNC on the board. It analyzes and imports the new files. On Prime and Core you can instead go Menu ▸ Browse, pick a USB drive and press Load.
Do not disconnect during SYNC. Wait until the board finishes analyzing and importing before you unplug or power off. Also note: rigs made or edited on the Prime cannot be loaded back onto a Pedalboard, Gigboard or MX5.
HeadRush gives you three ways to keep your tones safe. Pick whichever fits your setup, and always back up before a firmware update.
Enter USB Transfer and copy the Rigs, Setlists, Blocks and Impulse Responses folders to a backup folder on your Mac or PC.
On Prime and Core, plug a drive into the USB A port, open Menu then Browse, tap your rigs and hit Export. Fully computer free.
Open a setlist, tap the three lines by the logo, tap the three dots by a rig and upload. Great for backup and sharing, but uploads are public to the community.

Copy your rigs, setlists, blocks and IRs to your computer before installing new firmware, so nothing is ever lost.
After dropping files in, press SYNC and wait for it to complete. Never disconnect the board mid sync.
A rig relies on its impulse responses. When you share or move a rig, include the IR WAV files it uses.
The HeadRush Cloud shares whatever you upload with the whole community, so only upload rigs you are happy to release.
